This is a very cool book, and I'm really glad I got it. I feel it is a bit beyond what I'd recommend for a beginning guitarist. HOWEVER, if you are a guitarist that has developed enough proficiency and familiarity with the mechanics of the instrument to learn to play a few songs and are now itching to learn how to transition yourself from being "a guitarist" to being "a musician" but do not want to undertake the study of music theory, then this book is perfect for you. The focus of this book is on developing an uncomplicated approach to create music by utilizing scales, chords, and harmonies, and developing a sense of how they all fit together.

The book is uncomplicated, as the authors' end goal is to present what is a complicated subject in an uncomplicated way. There's about 10 pages of "familiarization" and explanation. Once you get to the 10th page, the author gets into the nitty-gritty, and you're learning how to construct chords anywhere on the fingerboard. He quickly and effectively expands it to cover different chord types for the next several pages, then progresses to basic scale information, harmonies, and then approximately 25 pages of broken down/analyzed scales. It closes with a page oriented towards allowing you to visualize the construction of your own chords/arpeggios regardless of location on the fingerboard, a few blank pages for you to note any scales you might like to have included, and of course the "Goodbye" page.

Reading through the book, the author does a superlative job of presenting everything in a cohesive and digestible manner. In addition, and very importantly anytime somebody is presenting a "barebones" approach, the author takes pains to point out where his approach reaches its limitations (for example, his approach is oriented towards relatively common/simple chords, and he points out when going over 9/11/13 chords that anybody interested in using those extensively would be well-served by more in-depth music theory study).

To break up the text and add some visual appeal, there are also many pictures of guitars manufactured by Wild Custom Guitars in France. I'm a big fan of Wild Customs, and in fact I had learned of this book's existence through them. They are very nice, very visually-interesting guitars, and it's nice to have that extra eye-candy in there.

There are a couple downsides:
-I really wish that subsequent runs of this book are manufactured with a thicker, more substantial front and back cover; My copy shipped in a bubble-padded envelope, but got bent rather significantly in shipping and the flimsiness of the covers did nothing to reinforce the book. It doesn't make reading the book difficult, but it would go a long way in making this book a bit more durable. I debated on whether or not to remove a star for this, but didn't find it to be a severe enough concern for a book this well-made for $20. If it was more expensive, I would find it to be a serious detracting point.
-The English translation job is EXCELLENT, however there are some minor mis-spellings I've found. Generally, nothing that garbles any message that's trying to be communicated, but it's always nice when they can be minimized.

This really is a fantastic book for its purposes. However, due to the accessible intent of its material, it is not exhaustive; If you are one of those folks with a well-stocked guitar library complete with all the Guitar Grimoire books and whatnot, chances are you won't find any scales/chords etc in this book that aren't already in those books; The intent of this book is clearly to enable a guitarist to cobble together a "working guitarists' toolbox of musical knowledge" and NOT to arm you with the knowledge of every possible scale and every possible chord. If you're tired of playing songs you've learned and want to be able to make your own music with your guitar, without learning music theory, buy this book.

First of all please hit that HELPFUL BUTTOM. Thanks I'd really appreciate that.
Book came in damaged a little bit but not to bad. The content of the book is amazing tho. I 100% recommend this. It has so many options, shows you chords like major, minor, sus, m7, etc this book shows you how to know all of each scale without having to remember all the scales just know the root and the shape. Also as always please HIT THAT HELPLFUL BUTTOM. Thanks and I didn't get this book for free or discounted price I bought it myself at full price for personal use.
Very easy to understand and apply it in real world context. I love it!!!
